Summit Congregational United Church of Christ
God is Still Speaking

The Rev. Dr. Michael Bausch is a Wisconsin native who has served UCC congregations in California and Wisconsin since his ordination in 1974.  He recently completed a 19-year tenure as Senior Pastor at the Union-Congregational Church of Waupun, Wisconsin.

A year ago he moved to Platteville where his wife, The Rev. Catherine Ann Carlson, is a UCC minister serving the First Congregational Church and the Mt. Zion UCC.  They have two grown daughters, Anica, an R.N. living in Madison, and Brianna, a veterinary technician living in Waupun with her husband Aaron.

Dr. Bausch (otherwise known as “Mike”) is a graduate of Carroll College in Wisconsin, the Pacific School of Religion in California, and the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.

He co-edited Everflowing Streams: Songs for Worship (1981), and wrote Silver Screen, Sacred Story: Using Multimedia in Worship (2002).

He presently serves as part-time adjunct faculty at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. and teaches occasional courses in Old Testament Studies for Grand Canyon University (online) and at UW-Platteville.  He loves making the connection between the Bible, Christian worship and today’s world.

For fun, Catherine and he operate a small travel business, taking one or two small groups a year to European destinations to enjoy art, religious architecture, and local restaurants.  He enjoys playing tennis and an occasional volleyball match, and plays acoustical guitar and harmonica in a band composed of old friends.
