Visiting Summit:

Summit is a  small congregation of around 100 members, 50 of whom attend the Sunday  service.  While many members are older, there are some young families. People  wear what's comfortable for them.

There is plenty of parking and  the main entrance is the one with the canopy (where you may drop people off in  bad weather or if they need assistance).
Someone will greet you at the  door.  The worship space is to the right, and the restrooms are to the  left.

Visitors are always welcomed warmly.  You are invited  to contact us if you'd like more information before attending for a first  time.

Email the church with any questions or  comments.

United Church of Christ Statement of Faith
in the Form of a Doxology
Approved by the Executive Council in 1981
for use in connection with the 25th anniversary of the UCC

We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit,
God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God,
and to your deeds we testify:
You call the worlds into being,
create persons in your own image,
and set before each one the ways of life and death.
You seek in holy love
to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
You judge people and nations by your righteous will
declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth,
our crucified and risen Savior,
you have come to us and shared our common lot,
conquering sin and death
and reconciling the world to yourself.
You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit,
creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ,
binding in covenant
faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

You call us into your church
to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,
to be your servants in the service of others,
to proclaim the gospel to all the world
and resist the powers of evil,
to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table,
to join him in his passion and victory.
You promise to all who trust you
forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace,
courage in the struggle for justice and peace,
your presence in trial and rejoicing,
and eternal life in your realm which has no end.
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.  Amen.

In the United Church of Christ
we believe that the Ancient Creeds,
Affirmations of Faith and Statements of Faith
are a testimony as to what we believe.
It is not required to be in  agreement
with all that is testified in these proclamations
of both the ancient and modern day church
in order to belong.

One of the assignments I like to give to students in confirmation class is to write their own personal
Statement of Faith,
and as a class to come up with a
Class Statement of Faith.
This allows them to find a way
to express to themselves and to others
what it is that they believe
about God, about themselves,
about the church, about creation,
about forgiveness, about salvation etc. ...

If you were asked to put into words
what it is that you believe,
what would you say?
What would be your testimony?

I invite you to ponder this
and write your personal testimony of faith.
By doing this
you will better understand what it is that you believe,
thus being better equipped to share with others
the gift of faith.

I believe that God is still speaking
and continuing to try and redirect our misunderstanding
and misuse of God's word and teachings.
When Jesus came to earth,
his whole life was a testament to God and to the will of God.
He challenged people with both
their misunderstandings and misuses of God's teachings.
Matthew chapters 5-7 are just one example of Jesus adding a deeper understanding to what people used to understand about God's ways and religious laws.

I know over the years, God has opened my eyes
to a very caring and relational God,
who not only draws us into a relationship with God,
but with one another and with creation as well.
I believe God desires the best
for all of creation
and when we are drawn into a relationship with God,
God challenges us to live life differently in the here and now.

As you ponder your beliefs, listen to God,
dig deep into the scriptures -not just your favorites,
but the ones that challenge you and your understandings.
Where might God be challenging you in misunderstanding and/or misuses of God's teachings and God's ways?
Where is God telling you
"Well done, good and faithful servant?"
Then consider how you will live
because of what you believe.

As you accept this challenge, may you grow closer to God
and continue to grow into the person God created you to be.
