Visiting Summit:

Summit is a  small congregation of around 80 members,
25 of whom attend the Sunday  service.
While many members are older, there are some
young families. People  wear what's comfortable for them.

There is plenty of parking and  the main entrance
is the one with the canopy (where you may drop people
off in  bad weather or if they need assistance).
Someone will greet you at the  door.
The worship space is to the right,
and the restrooms are to the  left.

Visitors are always welcomed warmly.
You are invited  to contact us if you'd like more
information before attending for a first  time.

Email the church with any questions or  comments.

A Prayer for Memorial Day
and Beyond

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this:
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

This Memorial Day and beyond,
may we remember the love shown us
through those who laid down their lives
both figuratively and literally in service to this nation seeking freedom, peace, liberty, and justice for all.

God of all creation, hear our prayer as we
commemorate and commend to you
those who served and laid down their lives
in service to this nation
through the various wars and conflicts in human history
so that others may live in freedom.
We praise and thank you for the gift of their lives
and the great sacrifice they have made
in seeking peace, liberty and justice for all.

We also lift into your care those who still mourn
the loss of a loved one, friend, and/or comrade.
May you comfort them and place within them
your peace that goes beyond all human understanding.

We pray for all who are in leadership positions,
that they may turn to you seeking your will and wisdom
as they guide this nation.
Where our nation's life has turned sour,
recall us to our senses and grant us the courage and will
to keep advocating for liberty and justice for all.

We pray for your protection for those who are still serving on land, in the air, and on the sea, not only physically, but for their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being too.
As it says in America the Beautiful, may the success
of their efforts be nobleness and every gain divine.
For those who have returned home
shattered by the visions and memories of war
may you bring healing and wholeness back into their lives.

Bless our young people,
may there come a day when they no longer experience
the ugliness of war or the depths of cruelty
to which humans can sink.
Should they encounter evil,
protect their souls from giving into evil
and guide them in your ways so that they may be
a part of the healing of the nations.

We pray for those places around the world where war, oppression, and violence are a very present reality.
May you break hearts of stone
and fill those hearts with your life giving love,
so that one day all may live in peace.
Amen
