Summit is a small congregation of around 100 members, 50 of whom attend the Sunday service. While many members are older, there are some young families. People wear what's comfortable for them. There is plenty of parking and the main entrance is the one with the canopy (where you may drop people off in bad weather or if they need assistance). Someone will greet you at the door. The worship space is to the right, and the restrooms are to the left. Visitors are always welcomed warmly. You are invited to contact us if you'd like more information before attending for a first time. Email the church with any questions or comments. E-Mail: click here to send us a message |

a season of waiting and of new beginnings! During Advent, we remember the first coming of Christ into the world as we await the second coming, yet it is so much more than that. According to Dictionaries.com, the word advent literally means “a coming into place, view, or being; arrival:” Synonyms for the word advent are onset, beginning, commencement, start. I am particularly drawn to the word commencement in these synonyms because it reminds me of graduations; a time of ending one chapter of our lives and entering into a new chapter of our lives. Though there is no doubt some anxiety of what lies ahead, there is also much excitement about what is to come. Life is a series of endings and new beginnings; some are welcome while others are not. Yet, that is the reality of life; welcome or not, life is ever changing. This Advent Season, I invite you to take a look back at your life and reflect upon all the advents in your life, both welcome and unwelcome. As you look back, can you see, hear, and/or feel the presence of God through it all. I know there are times throughout my life when I failed to notice God, in both good times and bad, yet when I take time to look back on my life, God’s presence and guidance becomes much clearer. This gives me hope and trust that God will be there to guide, challenge, encourage and uphold me through all the advents of life. May your time of reflection help you to notice where and when God has been with you throughout life’s journey. Like me, may it gives you hope and trust that God will be there to guide, challenge, encourage and uphold you through all the advents of life. May you also be inspired to open your heart more fully to God throughout all of advent and beyond. My prayer for us this Advent comes from the words of the hymn, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here Disperse the gloomy clouds of night And death's dark shadows put to flight. O come, O Wisdom from on high, and order all things far and nigh; To us the path of knowledge show and cause us in her ways to go. O come, Desire of nations, bind all peoples in one heart and mind; Bid envy, strife, and quarrels cease; Fill the whole world with heaven’s peace. |
