The worship space is to the right, and the restrooms are to the left. Visitors are always welcomed warmly. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” As we gather this Memorial Day may we remember the love shown us through those who laid down their lives both figuratively and literally in service to this nation seeking freedom, peace, liberty, and justice for all. God of all creation, hear our prayer as we gather this day to commemorate and commend to you those who served and laid down their lives in service to this nation through the various wars and conflicts in human history so that others may live in freedom. We praise and thank you for the gift of their lives and the great sacrifice they have made in seeking peace, liberty and justice for all. We also lift into your care those who still mourn the loss of a loved one, friend, and/or comrade. May you comfort them and place within them your peace that goes beyond all human understanding. We pray for all who are in leadership positions, that they may turn to you seeking your will and wisdom as they guide this nation. We pray for your protection for those who are still serving on land, in the air, and on the sea, not only physically, but for their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being too. As it says in America the Beautiful, may the success of their efforts be nobleness and every gain divine. For those who have returned home shattered by the visions and memories of war may you bring healing and wholeness back into their lives. Bless our young people, may they never experience the ugliness of war or the depths of cruelty to which humans can sink. Should they encounter evil, protect their souls from giving into evil and guide them in your ways so that they may be a part of the healing of the nations. We pray for those places around the world where war, oppression, and violence are a very present reality. May you break their hearts of stone and fill their hearts with your life giving love so that one day all may live in peace. Amen |
